Care guide
Hand-dyed textiles and delicate finishes last for years with a little care. Always check the care label inside your piece first.
Our general rule: dry clean when in doubt, and never tumble dry.
By fabric
| Fabric | How to care for it |
|---|---|
| Hand-dyed adire and tie-dye | Dry clean recommended. If hand washing, use cold water and a gentle detergent, wash separately, and don't soak. Hand-dyed colours can release a little dye at first. |
| Printed organza | Dry clean only. Steam on a low setting to release creases; don't iron directly. |
| Satin | Dry clean recommended. Iron on low heat on the reverse side, with a cloth between the iron and fabric. |
| Chiffon ruffles | Dry clean only. Steam gently to refresh the tiers; avoid pressing flat. |
| Printed mesh | Hand wash cold, or dry clean. Dry flat in the shade and don't wring. |
| Pleated jersey | Hand wash cold and dry flat. Never iron the pleats. |
Corsets and structured bodices
Don't machine wash structured pieces, because the boning can bend. Dry clean, and store them on a padded hanger or flat so the bodice keeps its shape.
Braided straps and embellishments
Handle braided straps, beading and ruched details gently. Turn pieces inside out before steaming, and keep them away from jewellery that could catch.
Storing your pieces
Hang gowns on padded hangers inside a breathable garment bag, never plastic. Keep them away from direct sunlight, which can fade prints and hand-dyed colours. Store volume pieces like organza and bubble hems with room to breathe.
